A new client told me yesterday that she had used ChatGPT to write her Introduction chapter. She said that she had asked that AI assistant what should go into that chapter, and had written it up accordingly.
But now she's not happy with it. It sounds awkward and stiff. She asked me if I would be able to help her add a human touch.
And of course that's the problem with using a robot (by any fancy name) to help in communicating with other humans. No matter how sophisticated the software, it still lacks that certain something that infuses a human-to-human interaction.
So what can you do if you've used AI?
First, there's no need to throw out your draft and write off all the time and effort you've already put in. You can use the AI-generated text just as the output of the research you did into what goes into an Introduction. Just like those scrappy notes on the back of a napkin, or the highlighted lines on the copy of a journal article, you can just treat our draft as part of the process,
And then I can help you to work with the ChatGPT wording and add other information about your topic in your own unique way. Together we can re-organize your sentences to explain things in a more meaningful way.
