Faculty Portal for Graduate Student Support

Helping You to Help Your Students

As a former faculty member myself, and founder and director of a program in the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of British Columbia, I know what kinds of support graduate students need.  I'll be glad to help you to help your students.

Some of the most successful outcomes with academic coaching are when a professor or instructor invites me to work with a student. My services are particularly useful when:

  • An otherwise brilliant student needs English language coaching.

  • Your institution does not provide the kind of advanced writing and thesis support your students need.

  • Students need guidance with citations or their Reference Lists, using a particular style guide, such as APA, Chicago, Harvard, etc.

  • Other university responsibilities and family commitments temporarily leave you little time to give your students the support they need.

  • You have subject expertise but you, yourself, are not comfortable with academic writing, and would prefer to leave the English tutoring to an expert.

  • A student has found me and would like you to agree to their using my coaching services.

Many universities have funds to cover my fees, or students are able to pay the fees themselves. There is no charge for time spent with you to discuss ways I can assist your students.
